Lori Long has been in education for over 20 years. She’s taught High School, 4th grade, and 1st grade. She was with Polk County Schools for many years teaching 1st grade, then was an Academic Intervention Facilitator for Oscar J Pope Elementary. Lori was also selected as Teacher of the Year while at Oscar J Pope. She has done tremendous work in our community being involved with various Non Profits. She was recently the director of Small Wonders Child Development Center and Goal Seekers PreK, Before & Afterschool Care and Summer Camp. While under her leadership, Small Wonders was nominated and selected by The Lakeland Ledger as the Best of the Best Day Care in Polk County. She brings with her a tremendous depth of knowledge not only in childcare but in small business management. Lori has her full DCF Director’s Credentials as well as is nationally certified as a Child Care Director by NICCM.
Bryan comes to us from the CFA-JAX location, and before that New Zealand’s All-Star Cheerleaders where he was a certified gym manager for the Allstar Mystix gym and level 1-5 coach.
Bryan has 19 years of cheering and coaching experience, which began at The Citadel where he received best all around cheerleader while pursuing a psýchology degree. Bryan then began coaching for UCA and US Cheer camps, where he became a head instructor. He moved into allstar cheerleading, cheering for the IO5 team at ACX before returning to the College of Charleston on scholarship for a degree in business administration.
While in college, he worked at Charleston Cheerleading Center- starting as a coach, then moving up to tumbling director, and then program director. He then relocated to Columbia to be the cheer program director at Palmetto Athletic Center. Following PAC, Bryan worked closely with Coach Terry at ACX and Infinity Allstars in Jacksonville, FL. Bryan earned several hundred state and national titles before moving overseas, where he coached teams to several dozen more international titles, including the Team New Zealand 2015 co-ed Elite and all-girl Elite teams (4th and 1st place, respectively) for ICU worlds.
Bryan is USASF certified through level 5, has sat on National and International judging panels, has been trained and certified with USAG through the artistic and T&T programs and has coached national champions in several disciplines.
With over 15 years of tumbling experience Coach Julian brings an energy and tumbling knowledge that is unmatched in the Jacksonville area. Julian has been on the biggest stages in cheerleading and has walked away with 1 NCA Championship, 5+Cheersport Championships, several UCA championships and a first place finish at the cheerleading Worlds in 2011 with ACE Allstars of Alabama. After winning worlds he went on to win college nationals with Faulkner State in 2012. Julian has won over 51 first place medals throughout his cheerleading career and is excited to bring his experiences to CFA-JAX. Along with being a championship cheerleader he has coached tumbling clinics all across the United States and Mexico as well as judged for several cheerleading companies.
Kate has over 9 years coaching experience at all levels from High School, All-Stars, and Collegiate winning numerous state and national championships. She also has many years for choreography experience with High School and All-Star routines. Prior to coaching she was a competitive gymnast and cheerleader for the majority of her young life. Kate is a proud graduate of the Florida State University. Go Noles! In addition to coaching, Kate is a middle school math teacher. She returns to Lakeland after just spending the last year teaching at an international school in South Korea! She loves coaching and enjoys building up her athletes in both skills and character.
Jackie has over 6 years coaching experience at the All-Star level winning numerous state and national championships. She herself has an extensive background in both competitive gymnastics as well as competitive cheerleading. She has experience in choreography with High School and All-Star routines. Jackie also spent two years as an instructor for the National Cheerleading Association (NCA). In addition to coaching, Jackie is a hair stylist at Serendipity Salon. Jackie loves coaching and hopes to make a positive difference in each of her athlete’s lives.
Michelle Carberry has been involved with the sport of gymnastics for 40 years. She was a competitive gymnast growing up and received a cheerleading scholarship while attending the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. She began coaching gymnastics full time in 1992 at Fort Sam Houston Army Base in San Antonio, TX. She was fortunate to spend multiple summers coaching under the watchful eyes of Bela and Marta Karolyi at the Karolyi Ranch in New Waverly, TX. In July of 1996, she moved to Lakeland, FL and a short time later was asked to rebuild the gymnastics program at the local YMCA. In less than two years, the program grew from 16 athletes to over 300. In August of 1998, she opened her own gymnastics, tumbling and cheerleading academy. As a gym owner, she has been involved in every aspect of the sport- coaching, choreography, rehabilitation, psychology, management, team building and problem solving. Being able to experience and understand every aspect of the sport gives her a unique perspective, one that allows her to relate to the gymnasts, the coaches, and the parents.
She has over 25 years experience as a choreographer and has experience coaching Levels 1-10. Michelle has taken several athletes to the AAU Junior Olympic games as both members of Team Florida and individual athletes.
Michelle is a graduate of Florida Southern College and teaches children with Intellectual Disabilities as well as children who are on the Autism Spectrum. Michelle has been a teacher with the Polk County School District for over 10 years and currently teaches students at Purcell Elementary in Mulberry. She has been a volunteer for Lakeland Futbol Club for 14 years and is a proud mother of two teenagers that compete on the Senior Co-ed competitive team here at CFA.
Kim has 22 years experience coaching competitive gymnastics and tumbling. She has produced numerous state champions. Being a competitive gymnast herself, her love for the sport is true to her heart. There is no better reward than watching a student achieve their goals!
Kim also coaches sideline and competitive cheerleading squads at Southeastern University. This is a ministry that has been very invigorating and exciting. Choreography, both in gymnastics and cheer has become a passion.
Side note…. Kim is a HUGE Kentucky Wildcat fan and loves college basketball!! GO CATS!!
Kelsee comes from a dance family. Her grandmother was a dance teacher, as well as her aunt, therefore, she has danced since her early childhood. Through her dance experience she decided to give cheerleading a try and was instantly hooked. All through her childhood and school years, she was doing dance, cheer and tumbling. She started with competition cheer (East Celebrity Elite) in an elite program till she graduated high school, which brought her to Worlds in Orlando, Florida.
She cheered for her middle school and placed in many competitions. She made the varsity cheer team her freshman year and continued through high school. Kelsee’s varsity team did regional and state competitions placing in many of them. Kelsee then went on to coach cheer, dance and tumbling teams from age 2-20, also a special education team which they helped the amazing, talented kids compete in competitions and let them be themselves, and give them opportunity to reach for the stars.
Kelsee graduated from Londonderry High School and entered cosmetology’s school. She graduated and received her hair dressing license, She now works at the Spa at Reunion Resort. She hopes to one day own her own salon! Kelsee just recently moved here from New Hampshire with her fiancé and beautiful one year old Lyla.
She is anxious to join the CFA family and working with all the talented individuals they have.
With over 10 years as an all-star cheerleader, Kearstin has now moved to the coaching side of the sport. Kearstin has cheered at multiple all-star gyms in Polk County, winning state titles, national titles and has competed at The Summit. As an athlete at CFA, Kearstin was a junior coach for the prep team for 3 years, as well as some full year teams. Kearstin also was a high school cheerleader at Fort Meade High School for 4 years, and was the varsity cheer captain her senior year. In addition to cheer, Kearstin attends Polk State College, and will hopefully be transferring to USF in the summer to major in Athletic Training. As a coach, Kearstin hopes to be a role model for her athletes, as well as allowing all athletes to reach their goal!
